Fan of "We Got Married: Global Edition" have something to look forward to because a new edition is in the works.
The original reality show, "We Got Married," started in 2008 with the idea of showing what life would be like if two Korean celebrities married. The idea behind the "We Got Married: Global Edition" was to match up Korean celebrities with stars from other countries. Beyond the usual challenges faced by a couple getting to know each other and make a life together, these couples had to overcome differences in language and customs.
The global version of the popular show was looked on with interest because it explored the subject of intercultural marriage, which has traditionally been frowned on in Korea.
The first global edition hit featured 2PM's Taecyeon with Taiwanese actress Gui Gui and F.T. Island's Lee Hongki with Japanese actress Fujii Mina. Both couples were well liked by fans who hoped their relationships would continue after the show ended. The mega hit was not only popular in Korea but also in the 22 other countries it was shown in. The show got more than nine million hits when it was posted on one Chinese site alone.
Now a second edition will soon start filming. So far only one couple has been chosen. According to SM Entertainment, Super Junior's Heechul will definitely appear on the second edition of the show. It is likely but not confirmed that he will court Puff Guo Xue Fe, a member of the Taiwanese girl group Dream Girls. One of the other members of Dream Girls is Korean, so hopefully Guo Xue Fe has picked up enough Korean so that she and Heechul can talk. at 25, she's five years younger than he is.
Puff Guo Xue Fe is also an actress who has appeared in two films, "Silent Code" and "Machi Action."
Heechul previously expressed his interest in being on the show and even joked that he might want to be a couple wit EXO's Xiumin.
Even though it is only half of his wish granted, he was pleased to be invited.
"I like to joke around a lot when it comes to the subject of dating," he said.
But he already knows what he wants to do on the show and it sounds romantic.
"I would like to walk down a rainy street sharing an umbrella or go camping with my wife," said Heechul.
The show will start filming on January 15 and begin airing in the first week of April.
Without knowing who the second couple will be, fans can't even imagine whether this show will be more successful than the last edition.
