Both Instagram and Pinterest did a good job of raking in its share of users. 2013 witnessed an increasing trend in the use of visual social media. It was no surprise that fans of both these sites were hooked on their photo publish agenda.

  • Social Media disappearing acts a predominant trend.

The latest example is Snapchat, spearheading the trend for disappearing social media trend. Snapchat users shared 360 million photos and then deleted them. The company is expected to grow in 2014 provided there are no more hack attacks or privacy issues. Recently, the networking firm said that its user names and phone numbers had been published by a hacking group.

That's a lot of people interested in constantly uploading their most recent photos.

  • Blogging

Blogging is in and trending. Ev Williams, from Medium publishing platform described the transition made to his network: "It is a much lower barrier and commitment than blogging.   • Private Networks

Private networks are another niche category trending now on the social media circuit. This is a contrasting trend from other social networking platforms like Facebook. While most social networks, like Twitter, share microblogging entries publicly, private networks are still the preferred mode of engagement for Lulu fans.
