Here's some shocking UFC news. It looks like a twitter fight will erupt between UFC president and Nate Diaz.
Dana White seems to think that many that are not willing to take on the undefeated Nurmagomedov. He then posted on his twitter that the usually game Nate Diaz turned down a fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Khabib was set to face former Strikeforce Champ Gilbert Melendez originally. That was until Melendez pulled out of the bout. Then a fan suggested Melendez's training partner Nate Diaz as an opponent. Dana was quick to respond saying that Diaz turned down the fight. However, Nate Diaz quickly took to Twitter and responded that Dana was "full of shit".
According to Daneul Summers of BJPenn.com Nate Diaz's management has made statements that the reason Nate Diaz did not take the fight is because the UFC refused to agree on specific conditions Nate Diaz and his team asked for.
"We asked for Nate's contract to be redone, the UFC turned it down," Kogan said. "We asked for a change to his contract, and changes to when the fight takes place. They said no and we said no thanks."
Nurmagomedov then took to his twitter and challenged Nate Diaz on the spot saying "If you not scared, Lets Fight!!"
Nurmagomedov made his debut at UFC on FX 1 back in January of 2012 and has gone undefeated since. He has made five appearances in the Octagon coming out victorious each time out. He's made quick work of fighters such as Kamal Shalorus and Thiago Tavares and most recently defeated Pat Healy via unanimous decision at UFC 165.
Nurmagomedov's fast rise and undeniable skills make for a dangerous fight for established veterans who remain close to title contention. Both Diaz and Melendez fit that bill and, as such, cannot really be blamed for holding out for better-established fighters such as Rafael dos Anjos, Jim Miller or Donald Cerrone.
Whether or not Nurmagomedov will stay on the UFC 170 card is unknown at this time.
