The Escapist Magazine reported that Google and L'Oreal's Matrix unit are teaming up to launch a salon experience app in late spring 2014. The app aptly named, 'Matrix Class for Glass.' It allows stylists to view various styles and create styling lessons from the perspective of the stylist.
It's not hard to find hair styling tutorial on You Tube. However, the collaboration between L'Oreal and Google Glass provides a unique perspective for someone pursuing a career as a hair stylist.
L'Oreal envisions three parts to its program with its subsidiary, Matrix using a series of video tutorials with Google Glass. In the next segment, George Papanikolas, celebrity stylist, is going to be providing appointments in the Matrix Eye for Style Chair at The Andy LeCompte Salon in LA. The third part of Matrix Class for Glass is what's called a "salon professional education platform" designed to train hair stylists with the best programs to hone their skills in the hair styling business, ITBusiness.net reports.
'Matrix Class for Glass,' is about "styling sessions directly from the eye of the stylist," reports The National Monitor and is designed to add a wow factor to the salon experience. The beauty lessons from experts in the industry will use Google Glass to recreate the exact style that a client would like to have.
"Salon clients and women around the world have long lamented the fact that they're unable to have their talented hairstylists at their side to recreate their favorite salon hairstyles at home," remarks Papanikolas. "Now, thanks to the technology of Google Glass and Matrix, the salon experience is forever changed."
Google Glass improves functionality of hair design and styling by providing an eye-view of the head from the perspective of the hair stylist. "Exclusive blogger video series ...capture(s) styling sessions the way the stylist sees them," and this is a fantastic improvement for those who want to style at home.
VP, Matrix General Manager Paul Schiraldi was quoted as saying in an online report, "This new initiative will completely transform the hair styling experience."
He added, "Wearable technology is the next frontier -poised to revolutionize the way we live and work, in the same way that smart phones and tablets have done. We're extremely excited to be leading the way in professional and consumer hair education with this initiative."
