Iphone battery 6 is solar powered according to reports that emerged on Monday Apple may release its iphone battery 6 with solar power using their new sapphire manufacturing technology that it is talking about.

Following its recent launch of the iphone 5s, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is rumored to be working on a solar power battery that could extend battery life of the iPhone. Recently, the Cupertino, California firm spoke of releasing its two new phones this year, both with larger size displays. These were a hit for Samsung customers on the Samsung Note series and the slightly bigger phablet-type models.

Battery life is one of the main problems with smartphones, since they have lots of functionality - video, audio, calls, and browsing on the Internet. This simply is too much for any smartphone to handle and solar powered iPhones make a lot of sense. Rivals will want to catch up on the technology too.

Several reports say solar panels will be inserted into the sapphire glass to obtain good absorption of solar light. This commentary was made by Seeking Alpha. With earlier reports confirming Apple's new sapphire crystal factor to be housed in Mesa, Arizona, the rooting of solar cells into the sapphire glass will happen at this facility, according to analyst at Seeking Alpha, Mark Margolis.

In February 2013, hints of an iPhone battery that is solar powered emerged after Apple filed patents for solar power and touch sensors. Along with this, the tech giant had advertised an opening for a solar specialist. The new factory in Arizona is partnered with GT Advanced Technologies, which also points Apple to improving the iPhone 6 battery with solar power.

Adding more protection to the display glass by itself is an improvement for Apple, with solar power making an extra addition, geeky-gadgets said.
