MWC 2014 Barcelona will see the newest handset launches this year, although technically Apple has already launched its iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c.
And of course a rumored launch of the next Samsung flagship phone, the Galaxy S5 is due at any time. But we probably will not see other launches until reports of MWC 2014 Barcelona come flooding in.
Ironically, reports of CES Las Vegas are still floating around on the Web, while the Mobile World Congress (MWC) will come to fruition from February 24-27.
All the big names companies launching new phones will be at MWC 2014 Barcelona: Apple, BlackBerry, HTC, LG, Nokia, Samsung and Sony. Some of the new launches are already on the Internet rumor mill - the Samsung Galaxy S5, the Lumia 929, Apple 6 and many more.
Pcadvisor maintains that the Galaxy S5 will want to hold a dedicated event for its release of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and it's believed to happen in London. The last event was in New York, when the S4 was unveiled. However, the lackluster sales of S4 is likely to see an early release.
Nonetheless, Samsung will show off at least two models in Barcelona. The first of these is Windows Phone 8 has a device called SM-W750V branded as an Ativ and a 5" Amoled display along with 4G LTE function. Samsung will also make it full HD, which it prides on.
Another Samsung entry will be the Samsung Galaxy Note Neo, a new comer to the phablet range with 5.5"/720 pixels coupled with a hexa-core processor.
Nokia, once synonymous with the ubiquitous cell phone will unveil two new models of the Lumia at MWC 2014 Barcelona. The new flagship Lumia 1820, which might actually be something to watch out for with a 2K res and Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. A second entry could be Lumia 1525 sporting a 6" screen and a built-in screen solar charger.
Nokia might need to do some catching with Samsung and Apple, so it might also consider outing an Android smartphone that has a codename, Normandy.
Sony is likely to use the MWC 2014 Barcelona event to release its flagship phone - most likely the Xperia Z2, codenamed Sirius running on Android KitKat and a Quad HD 2k res 5.2" phablet range screen.
It has been a while since HTC has made mention of new phones, but it's all the more likely that it will use the Barcelona event to launch a HTC One 2, which might be a strong competitor for Apple's iPhone 6.
LG surprised with a flagship G2 last year bringing mini phones back in vogue. Reports say that the mini version of the G2 could be released at the MWC 2014.
