Daniel Radcliffe News Update 2014: The Harry Potter star has just joined Brooklyn Bridge stated in a report by Variety. The film is set to start shooting in August. It is Written and directed by Douglas McGrath, and produced Christine Vachon and Rose Ganguzza.

Daily Star reported that Radcliffe will play Washington Roebling, a "brilliant but inexperienced engineer" who oversaw the construction of the famous Brooklyn Bridge, the bridge that connects Brooklyn to Manhattan. In the film, Roebling is forced to take over the construction when his architect father passes away.

"Having Daniel's involvement is a massive coup for the film, not only is he perfect for the role, but he's consistently proved himself to be one of the very few actors who is genuinely a massive draw for audiences of all ages," stated Pascal Degove, managing director of Goldcrest Films.

Radcliffe will also take on the lead role in the play The Cripple of Inishmaan, directed by Michael Grandage. He will play as Billy Claven. Billy is a crippled orphan who gets a chance to play a part in a Hollywood documentary set on the remote island off the west coast of Ireland in the 1930's.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, The Cripple of Inishmaan begins previews April 12 at the Cort Theater, with opening night set for April 20. Alongside Radcliffe as Cripple Billy, the cast also features Ingrid Craigie, Padraic Delaney, Sarah Greene, Gillian Hanna, Gary Lilburn, Conor MacNeil, Pat Shortt and June Watson.
