The Steam Community has something to look forward to. Valve has announce a Beta version of Steam Music and it will be available soon for Steam Big Picture and SteamOS.
Steam Music allows users to point Steam at your local music directory, so it can offer album and artist collections in your Steam Library. You can then play and manage music directly through the Steam client itself, as opposed to an external player like Windows Media Player, which should make it easier to juggle volume levels.
The interface can be controlled via the Big Picture overlay with keyboard and mouse, or more directly using a Steam Controller.
Steam users are encourage to participate and sign up for a community group to which Valve is initiating this beta "with what we believe to be the most fundamental set of features to offer a great music listening experience within Steam," so there'll be plenty of room for feedback.
