MWC 2014 Barcelona dates will present surprises with the first day of the Mobile World Congress kicking off an Unpacked Event for Samsung.

The MWC is a great place to announce a new release, Samsung has been touted to launch its highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5 during the next few weeks. Only the media rumored that Samsung would go with a more glitzy location like London after bypassing the MWC for a New York Samsung event last year. Most analysts agree that the Korean smartphone maker has a way of surprising the crowd. But all will be waiting for this invitation only event.

The Unpacked 2014 Episode1 takes place on February 24th in Barcelona, coincidentally the opening day of the Mobile World Congress 2014.

The invitation number five on the tickets sent out by Samsun suggest that the flagship phone could be the Samsung Galaxy S5. The presence of the number on the invitation implies that there will be at least an announcement about the Galaxy S5. Other reports say that a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is slated for release, while killing a couple of features like dust proof and water proof coatings. This could mean that Samsung is releasing a Samsung Galaxy S5 version before it is complete. Sometimes, the specs require more time and changes are inevitable ahead of a release.

Devicemag.com reports that there were hints of an earlier release than an April launch that has plagued details about the S5. "This February 24th could be that, probably."

Reports suggesting that this time the phonemaker could go metal instead of its previous plastic makes, also takes the form of mixed reviews, since some analysts suggest that the S5 could be made from both plastic and metal.

The smartphone intended to compete with the iPhone 6, slated for release in Mid 2014, is touted to have an iris scanner along with a brand new design. A change in design is imminent since consumers were not pleased with the S4 taking more or less the same form factor as its predecessor the Samsung Galaxy S3.
