Sad news for "Tekken" fans as "Tekken Tag Tournament 2" is not included in the EVO 2014 game list.
EVO 2014 or Evolution 2014 is the biggest fighting tournament in the world today and one of the most popular fighting game franchises in the world, "Tekken" won't have an entry on it.
This comes to no surprise however as "Tekken Tag Tournament 2" EVO 2013 had quite a low number of entrants and some fans even mused that not all the best "Tekken Tag Tournament 2" players competed at EVO 2013.
With "Tekken Revolution" not being a hit with veteran players, "Tekken" fans have asked if the "Tekken" fighting game community is dying.
Some "Tekken Tag Tournament 2" fans that were disappointed with the no show at EVO 2014 and blamed Namco for making "Tekken" inaccessible to fans thus resulting in fewer "Tekken" fans. They cited the shutting down of WTF or World Tekken Federation as a lack of support from Namco and they even cited Capcom's support of the Street Fighter Franchise as "better" compared to what Namco is doing right now.
Other users blamed the gameplay of "Tekken" as a fault. Some users pointed out that the gameplay of Tekken requires too much time to learn and master and it is more unforgiving compared to other fighting games, citing the game "Injustice" as example of being a casual fighting game that is easy to pick up and master.
Because of all these reasons, some "Tekken" fans say that the "Tekken" community is dropping in numbers and it is dying.
EVO 2014 will feature "Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3", "Ultra Street Fighter IV", "Injustice: Gods Among Us", "Killer Instinct", "The King Of Fighters XIII" and "BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma".
There will be no 3D fighting games in this year's EVO 2014.
According to EvilWizard, the organizers of EVO 2014 are in talks with Nintendo in order to get the approval of including Super Smash Bros. in the tournament.
EVO 2014 will be held on July 11-13 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
What do you think? Is the "Tekken" community dying? Will a "Tekken" PC release that fans have been clamoring so much revitalize the "Tekken" community?
