It looks like another reboot has been announced and this time, the "Transporter" franchise gets the reboot treatment as the planned "Transporter 4" gets turned to a prequel movie!

British action star Jason Statham is no stranger to sequels as he appeared in dozens of them already as evidenced in his appearances in the "Expendables" sequels and the "Transporter" sequels. However, it seems that to appear in a fourth film of a franchise is too much for Jason Statham as he won't reprise his role as driver Frank Martin in "Transporter 4".

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Luc Besson and EuropaCorp are going forward with a fourth film in the "Transporter" franchise and they will partner with Mark Gao and Fundamental Films Company in Shanghai. But Jason Statham will not return, because the film will serve as a reboot focusing on Frank's origin story this time.

In addition, if the "Transporter 4" film performs well, a "Transporter 5" and "Transporter 6" film will be made and it will follow the younger version of Jason Statham's character. The reboot is on sale right now at the European Film Market.

However, Jason Statham fans should be happy to hear that another one of his characters will make a return!

Director Dennis Gansel has been hired to direct "The Mechanic 2", a sequel to the 2011 action thriller remake "The Mechanic" which starred Statham as Arthur Bishop, an elite assassin with a talent for cleanly killing targets, often making it look like an accidental death and with a strict code of conduct.

Aside from "The Mechanic 2", Jason Statham will appear in the "Expendables 3" (which is getting a female version called "ExpendaBelles") with returning cast members Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lungren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"Expendables 3" will start its worldwide theatrical run on August 15, 2014!
