Android 4.4 update release dates are ongoing as you read this article. Verizon has initiated a roll out for its HTC model.

HTC project management director, Mo Versi said that Android 4.4.2 for Verizon HTC was approved for the update. Updates were available later on the same day, according to ibtimes.

The update comes on the heels of a delay after the 4.4 update was due for release in January.

In earlier reports, Sprint HTC One received the 4.4 manual download download along with Canadian models.

The build 3.11.605.1 targeted for Verizon HTC one users comes with HTC Sense 5.5 UI and an upgradedd Blink Feed for HTC. This translates to a easier access to menu and a pinch-in for switching off Blink Feed.

Enhancements are also presnet on loaction settings, lock screen, music app and gallery.

The update comes with a new 'Do Not Disturb' feature which enables shutting down settings to the 'off' position for more privacy and less distraction.

The OTA update requires Wifi for downloading and consumers can check for manual KitKat updates by clicking on access settings, about phone and then software updates.

In a first of its kind Android 4.4 update, HTC One Max was reported to receive updates in Hong Kong by IBT.

Reports suggest thtat HTC had made an announcement about the HTC One Max and the HTC One Mini were close to a launch. Now that the Android 4.4 KitKat rollout has begun in Asia, a HTC One Max, Mini unveiling could happen soon. Updates are typically released in Asia ahead of a U.S. launch.

According to current reports, HTC One unlock model, Google Play Edition, and the Developers Edition have already updated to Android 4.4 KitKat in the U.S. This is in addition to sprint HTC One and Canadian HTC One models. Once the update becomes available, carriers are likely to announce their updates soon.
