Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 review is about the beginnings of a big screen phones. Many of the original big screens were a failure, while Samsung Galaxy Note became a success.
Big screens usually have low resolutions, but the Samsung Galaxy Grand had an appeal to consumers. It had a big screen, and you didn't have to pay and an arm and leg.
While the Samsung Galaxy Note has a 5.3 inch 800X1289 pixels, which was great in 2011. The 5.25 inch Galaxy Grand 2 is a good match for the Note with respect to resolutions and screen size. It's only 0.05 inches smaller than the original Note and has the 16:9 res of 720x1280, which is a little narrow.
The Galaxy Grand 2 is a great example of how much technology has come in the last couple of years. The specs on the phone are similar or the same of a flagship product that's a bit old, but at approximately half the price.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 reviews cite the handset as striking. It has more of a square shape in comparison with the Samsung Galaxy Grand.
On the back, the faux leather texture has become a signature for Samsung. This was a design that was made popular by Galaxy Note 3 . The same design is available on the Galaxy S4 and S4 Mini black editions.
According to Gadgets NDTV.com, "The device is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 system-on-a-chip (SoC) running at 1.2 GHz. This is a mid-range quad-core offering, but it should at least be more powerful than similar processors from Mediatek and Broadcom that are more commonly found in phones at this price point."
The report adds, "There's 1.5GB of RAM, which should be more than enough for smooth multitasking. Samsung has been a little stingy with only 8GB of internal storage space, though you can add up to 64GB more using a microSD card. Both SIM cards use the GSM standard and 3G speeds of up to 21Mbps are supported. Dual-band Wi-Fi n and Bluetooth 4.0 LE are standard, as are the acceleration, magnetic, proximity, rotation and orientation sensors."
The screen is the simple LCD type and not AMOLED with a 720x1280 display. The Galaxy Grand 2 operates on an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, which is an advantage. Samsung's TouchWiz UI makes the phone even more dynamic.
The camera on the Grand 2 works well in daylight since it is 8 megapixel. Video is also impressive at 720p. However, the battery life leaves much to be desired.
