Samsung Galaxy S5 price has not been released by Samsung, nor has the specs. But it is widely anticipated for release at the Unpacked event in Barcelona on Feb. 24, just ten days away.
While many Samsung watchers are awaiting a better enhanced version of the Galaxy S4, which had issues with the Android 4.3 JellyBean OS, some analysts are advising not to buy the Samsung Galaxy S5 at the launch price. Why?
Price comparison site Idealo has been looking at the Galaxy S models and gradual shifts in price after launch. Idealo is convinced that the Galaxy S5 would sell for considerably less after 3 months from launch.
BGR touts that the Samsung Galaxy S5 price at launch will look attractive to many buyers, and it will be one of the most impressive smartphones the world has seen. It would have to be because it will be competing with the iPhone 5S, and the iPhone 6, rumored for release in the second half of the year.
According to rumors, it would carry a Super AMOLED display measuring5.25 inches diagonally. It will also have 2K res. That would set the Samsung Galaxy S5 in a class by itself. But let's go back to the price and see if you'd like a bargain to go with the Galaxy S5.
In the long term, unlocked price trends for Samsung models Galaxy S2, S3, S4 had a similar pattern, while in the short term, the price of Samsung's flagship models have been declining steadily with every generation of new phones.
Samsung Galaxy S5 price will drop 24% three months after launch, says Idealo.
Idealo said in a post on its blog, "The average price of the Samsung Galaxy S2 had reduced by 13% of its initial value after three months of being on sale."
dealo added, "Its successor, the Galaxy S3, experienced a price decline of 14%. One generation down the line, we notice an even more significant price decline. The Galaxy S4, which was released in May 2013, was 18% cheaper by August 2013."
