HTC Desire 8 smartphone confirmed after it was leaked a week ago. The Taiwan-based firm has acknowledged developing the smartphone on HTC's Sina Weibo account.
The HTC Weibo shows a Desire 8 screenshot, which reveals a dearth in marketing budget.
A second image, Sense UI of the HTC Desire 8 with the time corresponding to 10am, 24 February, which signals the starting date of the MWC 2014 Barcelona.
The dual-SIM HTC Desire 8 will be comprised of a 5.5-inch display but no details of pixel resolution. This is the 1st HTC handset to unveil after HTC Desire 700.
HTC Desire 8 will carry a design similar to those of high end smartphones, which includes stereo front-facing speakers. The Desire 8 also has on-screen buttons rather than capacitive touch.
HTC's product manager said in a NDTV report, the firm is "actively exploring" the option of Android 4.4 KitKat for the HTC One X.
The Taiwanese firm also said it extends support for future flagship phones and updates will be due after two years after their release.
HTC said in a statement, "Today we are making a commitment to support all new North America flagship devices going forward with all major Android updates for 2 years after their release date."
The HTC Desire 8 is expected to carry a 13-megapixel rear camera, leaving behind the UltraPixel technology; this was used with the HTC One. The handset comes with a high 5-megapixel front camera with a 'beautification' option.l.
