A new Godzilla poster has been revealed boy, does it look impressive at first glance. The new Godzilla poster was first shown on Yahoo! Movies and just by looking at it, it tells us exactly how huge the "King of the Monsters" is in the movie.
Godzilla's sheer size as shown in the new poster gives everyone the impression that he does live up to his moniker. Yahoo notes that Godzilla looks about the size of San Francisco's Trans America Pyramid Center, which is 853' high, making him 16000' high - or just over five football fields tall. That skyscraper stands at 48 floors, making him about 100 stories high. Now that is one giant lizard.
It also highlights the destruction Godzilla creates in the city, making it look like a warzone with buildings destroyed and on fire each time Godzilla passes by. We also see the paratroopers descending on the carnage, red plumes of smoke billowing behind him as seen in both the previous poster and the first trailer.
Now that everyone has an idea of how huge Godzilla is, it's only a matter of time before we get to see what Godzilla truly looks like in the film without the smoke and fog or his back.
The Godzilla franchise debuted in 1954 with the release of Gojira. 2014 will mark the 60 year anniversary. It's been 10 years since the monster appeared on screen in Godzilla: Final Wars, so it's a great time to give the series a reboot.
The film is directed by Gareth Edwards. He's tackled the monster genre before with Monsters, but he'll have a far bigger budget for Godzilla. It'll be great to see what he can do.
This rendition of the Godzilla story boasts an unbelievable cast which includes Bryan Cranston (Walter White in Breaking Bad series), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass film franchise) and Elizabeth Olsen ( Oldboy, Silent House). Taylor-Johnson and Olsen will of course be teaming up once again as the brother-sister duo of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in The Avengers: The Age of Ultron.
