MWC 2014 new phone debut was made by Nokia, which proved to the world that it can be an Android just like Samsung, and Google.

The launch of Nokia X codenamed rumored for some time, came as no surprise as trouble at the mobile wing at Redmond Street led to an early retirement for Microsoft Boss Steve Ballmer. Now that new CEO Nadella has taken the helm, things will change at Windows Phone, which is a line up of Nokia Lumia handsets. But Nokia isn't waiting to see what happens and has boarded the Android bandwagon.

Microsoft's $7.2 billion buyout of Nokia's phone business could be one reason why Nokia is looking at low cost phones powered by Android.

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, who was among the favorites to get a nod for the top executive job at Redmond introduced the Nokia X, which was probably the biggest leaked phone at the MWC 2014.

Elop said, "The Nokia X is built on Android open source software. We have differentiated and added our own experience," techradar reported.

Nokia also decided to go long on Android with a three phone debut. Apart from the Nokia X, X+ and a Nokia XL versions were also unveiled at the MWC 2014 new phones debut.

The Nokia XL is an interesting 5" display phone putting in the category of a phablet. Although specs have not been discussed, there's a whopping 5MP camera on it along with flash and auto focus, both very rare photo options on smartphones. The front facing 2 MP is a nice give away too.

The 5" display screen is WVGA and rather than hooking up to Google Cloud Services, the X and the Nokia XL seem to have an attachment to the Windows-maker's apps like Skype.
