Finally we can see the new Godzilla's face in full detail as the Empire Magazine unveils its new "Godzilla" 2014 movie magazine cover!

The new black and white "Godzilla" 2014 movie Empire magazine cover is clearly inspired by Ishiro Honda's original 1954 "Gojira" movie and it finally shows what the new Godzilla looks like!

Since the new Godzilla looks just like the original Godzilla, it comes as a relief to many, after the widely-hated 1998 Hollywood 'Godzilla' from 'Independence Day' director Roland Emmerich re-imagined the King of the Monsters as an oversized iguana.

This resulted in Godzilla fans calling Emmerich's monster "GINO" (Godzilla In Name Only). Even the Japanese hated the new design so much that they made the original Godzilla easily destroy Emmerich's "GINO".

"Godzilla" 2014 director Gareth Edwards has been well aware of the need to cast off the shadow of Emmerich's film, and deliver something closer to the spirit of Honda's original.

Edwards tells Empire, "Trying to get the face right was the main thing... I guess he's got more of a bear's face, or a dog's. We also used eagle. There's a lot of nobility in an eagle. It made him feel very majestic and noble."

Edwards also revealed that the master of motion-capture, Andy Serkis, was hired to help bring Godzilla's face to life - or, as the director puts it, "control the souls" - in some key scenes, via Serkis' own motion-capture studio The Imaginarium.

Take note that Edwards said "souls," plural. This is to remind viewers that Godzilla will not be the only giant monster to wreak havoc in the movie, although we haven't had a glimpse at his adversaries just yet.

They have released a teaser showcasing the roar of the King of Monsters, Godzilla as well.

The new Empire Magazine with the "Godzilla" cover goes on sale on 27th February, whilst "Godzilla" hits cinemas on 16th May.
