With the MWC 2014 Samsung Galaxy S5 unveiling party over, Samsung has organized its enterprise portfolio announcements at the Mobile World Congress 2014.
Incidentally, Samsung Knox unveiled in October 2013 at the MWC 2013. It was Samsung's foray into the enterprise Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) technology.
Following that launch, Samsung sold more than 25 million devices on Knox; there were over one million users on the platform.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 packs in Knox 2.0 pre-installed with a number of improvements. The most obvious of these is the two-factor biometric authentication, which requires fingerprint verification + a password to unlock the smartphone. For this reason, the iOS and the iPhone were thought to be safer until the Know was introduced into Galaxy S5.
Samsung provides support to beef up security for Android apps on Google Play, where a deal with Good Technology has secured optimal support for Samsung Knox.
Samsung's VP of Knox at it's mobile division Jae Shin, told reporters, "We're seeing different usage scenarios for the Galaxy Note and tablets."
He adds, "There are a level of checks up the stack and that's a real security enhancement for Android."
According to Znet.com, Knox 2.0 is scheduled for release in Q2 2014. However, this means Knox users require an Android 4.4 KitKat update to obtain the latest version of Knox.
"As bring your own device (BYOD) policies become more and more popular with enterprises and their employees, issues related to data security and confidentiality become more and more important. In the past, Android has generally been seen as a less secure platform than either iOS or Blackberry, but this might just be about to change if Samsung has its way with its new security service, KNOX," explains Assief Khaliq of Hongkiat.com
