"Minecraft" is one of the most well-known video game franchises in the market today so it is a no-brainer that it is going to be made into a major motion picture.
Warner Bros. just acquired the rights to the wildly popular game from Swedish indie developer Mojang. The property already is getting huge interest from writers and filmmakers as Warner Bros. is putting together a live-action version.
Warner Bros. is hoping that "the Minecraft" movie is going to be as well-received like the "Lego Movie". To do this they took "Lego Movie" producer Roy Lee to produce the film.
Roy Lee is going to produce the Minecraft movie along with his Vertigo Entertainment production company. Jill Messick (Mean Girls and Mean Moms) will be a producer as well according to Warner Bros.
As soon as the "Minecraft" movie was announced, fans took to various forums and social networking sites to voice out their opinion. Some users predicted that the Minecraft movie will be a "blockbuster"; A play on words as that is what the character does on "Minecraft".
If there was a Minecraft movie made, I would bet it would be a ... Blockbuster.

Sweet about a Minecraft Movie. I am not certain what the plot will be but I love Minecraft, and the Lego movie did really well as well. — 遠野くん (@tohnokun) February 28, 2014
