Hence, everyone was waiting for a release after the MWC because it would be an opportune time to get everyone interested in an HTC at one place at the same time.

Even Samsung cancelled its plans to debut its S5 in London after a poor show by the Samsung Galaxy S4. On the other hand, HTC may have felt that Samsung stood out at the MWC 2014 and the unveiling of the Galaxy S5 at the Unpacked 5 event was too much pressure for HTC.

At any rate, HTC tweeted, "The best is about to get better," indicating that it will expose the HTC One 2 M8 at the right time. It also displayed a save the date image for March 25.

According to PC Advisor's Chris Martin, there is adequate information not to doubt the scheduled date of release. However, the naming convention of the new HTC could use some help. The HTC One 2 is codenamed M8, however, it will not be part of the final name for the product.

Analysts say that 'HTC One 2' sounds too much a sound check and that putting a + or 2014 next to the name of the new HTC would give it an indication of being new. Evleaks suggests that the new smartphone be dubbed the 'All New One."

The price tag on the HTC One 2 has not been divulged. According to rumors, the new HTC will sport a 5" HD screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and the Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

It is also not clear how the HTC One 2 will utilize the twin camera sensors. It is a known fact that the HTC One 2 will be outfitted with a Sense UI

A mini HTC One 2 is also planned for the M8, with .a 4.5in 720p screen, a Snapdragon 400 processor and a 13Mp camera.
