Toshiba Encore reviews point out that its strengths are complete access to Microsoft Office, a 8MP Cam, combined with a strong battery.
Among its weak points are its 'buggy' performance referring to a delay in shifting apps, including poor loading times and the difficulty of use with Desktop Windows.
The major features of the Toshiba Encore includes an 8-inch screen, 1,280 x 800 resolution display; Windows 8.1; 8 MP rear camera and 64GB internal memory.
The Toshiba Encore runs on the Microsoft's Windows 8.1 Pro operating system, and takes the form of a 8-inch tablet. Despite the connection to the Windows Store and Microsoft Office, Toshiba Encore's screen leaves much to be desired in its lack of responsiveness.
It takes away from the user experience, when just shifting apps or skipping back a web page while browsing doesn't go smoothly.
Despite its issues with speed and lack of responsiveness, the Toshiba Encore is not the first in the 8-inch Windows tablet category. Nonetheless, the Encore provides a solid performance with an outstanding 9 hour battery life.
The Toshiba tab is also affordable in comparison with other tabs in is class like the Editors' Choice Asus Transformer Book T100TA (64GB). However, a comparison with the Asus reveals that the Encore does not have a docking keyboard and its battery life is not very impressive, reports PCAdvisor.
However, if you have the patience to work with the Toshiba's delayed responsiveness with an 'on-the-go simplicity' and a low price, the Toshiba Encore is an average yet functional tab to purchase.
Trustedreviews wrote in an online report, "(Encore) it's acceptable for reading web pages and video streaming. Video is sharp and viewing angles are decent, but it lacks the vibrancy, colour accuracy and ability to capture more natural tones the way similarly priced tablets are able to. The 189ppi pixel density means you shouldn't expect exceptional clarity, either. It's suitable for the tiled, tablet-optimized user interface and reading web pages, but the desktop mode isn't quite so forgiving.
