The Big Bang Theory has been renewed for three more years. CBS just made a renewal deal with Warner Bros. Television to have the show run until the 2016-2017 season.

The geek show has been extremely successful, and it has recently shown massive potential to get even bigger. It has achieved top ratings since 2010, with the current seventh season getting its highest ratings to date. The show now has around 19.79 million viewers, and that number is growing every year. It's number one in its target demographics, posting 6.1/19 in adults 18-49.

CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler says in a statement, "Comedy is a big part of our schedule, and The Big Bang Theory is the biggest comedy force on television. This multi-year deal further strengthens our network's position for future seasons and marks another chapter in the great partnership CBS enjoys with Warner Bros. Television for delivering audiences the best in comedy. We're proud to work with and showcase the incredible talents of Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro, and this amazing cast every week."

Main cast members Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar are all reportedly still in the game. Their contracts are set for renewal at the end of the seventh season, but are currently going through negotiations. The show's other regulars - Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch, already sealed new deals late last year.

The Big Bang Theory was created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady. They are both serving as executive producers and head writers on the show, alongside Steven Molaro. The sitcom's first episode aired back in September 2007 on CBS. It tells the story of a group of socially-challenged geeky guys and their hot girl neighbor. They're experimental physicist Leonard Hofstadter, theoretical physicist Sheldon Cooper, mechanical engineer Howard Wolowitz, astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali and waitress/aspiring actress Penny.
