DreamWorks 3-D animated film Mr. Peabody & Sherman has fetched the first place spot at the box office with $21.2 million and $15.3 million internationally, while the raging warriors of Greece in Zack Snyder's sequel 300: Rise of An Empire drops in second place and EA Games racing game turned movie Need For Speed finishes at third.

Last week Mr. Peabody & Sherman came close to first place last week with 300: Rise of An Empire leading snagging the spot, but it looks like their roles has been change this week. Mr. Peabody & Sherman is a movie about the time travelling adventures of Mr. Peabody, a talking with a genius intellect and his adopted son Sherman. Based on a segment "Peabody's Improbable History," from cartoon series "Rocky and His Friends" and "The Bullwinkle Show" in the 1950's and early 60's.

This animated show has certainly earned its No. 1 in the box office as President of domestic distributions for Twentieth Century Fox, Chris Aronson commented that.

"Our mid-week numbers were very strong indicating good and positive word of mouth. If anything, this is exceeding (expectations). It's a combination of likable characters and it's a nostalgia play for those who are familiar with the show."

Warner Bros. epic warrior film 300: Rise of an Empire fell down to DreamWorks animated film to second place. The "300" sequel has earned $19.1 million after debuting strong at first place in the box office last week and gaining a total of $78 million on both weekends.

As for the racing video game movie Need For Speed, it finishes at third place in the box office. Based from the EA Games popular racing franchise starring Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul, Need For Speed has reportedly earned $17.8 million.

Liam Neeson's new movie Non-Stop lands in fourth place with $10.6 million while Tyler Perry's The Single Moms Club lands in fifth place with $8.3 million in the box office.

Certainly it's been a good week for DreamWorks animation and would like to continue to keep up the good work. Will Mr. Peabody & Sherman keep the number 1 spot at the box office this week? We'll find out this weekend for another box office review.
