"Buffy The Vampire Slayer" star Sarah Michelle Gellar did not keep her disgust to herself upon finding out that the US Vogue Magazine featured power couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, famously dubbed as "Kimye," in the cover of their April issue, according to dailymail.co.uk.
The 36-year old actress then took her rants to twitter by slamming Editor Anna Wintour's questionable decision: "Well..... I guess I'm cancelling my Vogue subscription. Who is with me???"
It turns out Gellar was not alone with her disappointment.
She was joined by fashion fans and fellow celebrities to announce to the whole world their discontent of the upscale publication's April issue that shows the "Keeping up with the Kardashians" star embraced by his rap star hubby while wearing a chic wedding gown.
Bryanboy, an influential blogger tweeted: "Twenty four years of loyalty to American Vogue and then this."
Nikki Finke, a respected entertainment journalist known for her outspoken views, did not pass up to share his opinion against the "Kimye" Vogue cover: "I'm loving the big backlash aimed at Anna Wintour for putting Kim Kardashian on Vogue cover. Issue should come with barf bag."
Another Vogue reader, diannacooper10 added sarcastically: "Wait, this is a joke right? - #KimKardashian on the cover of @voguemagazine?! It's not April Fool's Day yet!"
But it seems Vogue Editor Anna Wintour was already expecting the backlash as she noted on his editorial message: "Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it."
"I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or perhaps that should be to a K?)," Wintour concluded.
Adding to the the backlash, an E! Online source revealed that Supermodel Kate Upton was supposed to be the Vogue Cover Girl for April, but was replaced by "Kimye" instead.
Vogue communications director Hildy Kuryk was quick to deny the rumour, saying: "we are all huge supporters of Kate here at Vogue and have been thrilled to feature her numerous times in the past year, both on the cover and inside the magazine."
"There was never a cover commitment made to Kate, and we look forward to working with her in the future," Kuryk clarified matter-of-factly.
