The Wolverine and The Fantastic Four sequel release dates have just been announced, along with a mystery Marvel film. According to 20th Century Fox, the two sequels will be out by 2017, while the mystery project will be ready by 2018.
The next Wolverine movie has been set for March 3, 2017. The last one grossed more than $413 million at the box office last year, which made it the second most successful X-Men movie ever. Director James Mangold is expected to return for the new film.
Before that happens, the film's star Hugh Jackman will be appearing onscreen in X-Men: Days of Future Past, which will be coming out in May. The hunky actor is part of a star-studded cast, which includes Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, James McAvoy, Anna Paquin, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen.
The Fantastic Four sequel will be out in theaters by July 14, 2017. The franchise has had a reboot, with the first movie scheduled for June 19, 2015, and an entirely new cast announced last month. "The Human Torch" will be played by Friday Night Lights actor Michael B. Jordan. Sue Storm, also known as the "Invisible Woman" went to Kate Mara of House of Cards. Reid Richards, also known as "Mr. Fantastic" is going to be That Awkward Moment actor Miles Teller, while Benn Grimm, also known as "The Thing" will be played by Jamie Bell from Billy Elliot. Filming has yet to begin however.
As for the mystery Marvel movie, the studio is still keeping it under wraps. The untitled project has been scheduled for July 13, 2018. It could either be a new X-Men movie, or another Fantastic Four installment.
Fox announced the release dates for other films as well. Frankenstein, starring Daniel Radcliffe, has been pushed back from January 16, 2015 to October 2, 2015. Taken 3, which will still be starring Liam Neeson, is on the calendar for January 9, 2015. The Secret Service, directed by Matthew Vaughn, is now set for October 24, 2014, after first being scheduled for March 6, 2015.
