Rosemary's Baby Remake: Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Star Trek, Guardians of the Galaxy) will get another starring role, this time on a classic horror film remake to A Television Miniseries, Rosemary's Baby. She will play the role of Rosemary Woodhouse, previously played by Mia Farrow, a bright but naïve housewife.

The 1968 film version of the bestselling 1967 novel is written by Ira Levin. As the title implies, this is a story of Rosemary falling victim to a fiendish baby, her baby.

It would be interesting to see if Zaldana can live up to Farrow's chilling performance in Rosemary's Baby, as well as how director for the NBC miniseries Agnieszka Holland will compare to Roman Polanski's. Polanski went on to direct the breakthrough 1974 film Chinatown, and in 2002 won a Best Director Oscar in The Pianist.

While many fans are likely wondering why a film acknowledged as one of the greatest horror movies ever produced needs a remake, there will be some noteworthy differences between the NBC two-part Rosemary's Baby starring Zoe Saldana and the 1968 film. The TV series is reportedly set to have its setting in Paris, while the film was set, as was the novel, in a creepy old apartment building in New York City known as The Bramford.

The Bramford was based on The Dakota building in New York, where the exterior shots in the film were actually filmed.

Compared to the first film, casting the 35-year-old Zoe Saldana in the role of Rosemary is a bit outstretched, although Saldana might seem a bit younger than her actual age and since Mia Farrow was all of 22 years old when she was cast, 47 years ago, as the unfortunate expectant mom in the Polanski film.
