One Direction will be touring the U.S. this summer, but the boy band has already booked their whole year to dominate the world. 1D announced the first dates of "Where We Are" stadium tour, which will begin in South America in April 2014, according to Billboard
"Where We Are" kicks off in Bogota Colombia, April 25 with 11 dates in South America. The One Direction tour then moves to Europe through the middle of July before North American dates start on August 1. Demand was never scarce especially for the North American leg, that two shows were added in Pasadena's famous stadium while seven other cities were given one additional date.
"Don't worry if you don't see your country - more dates will be added very soon!" the group promises on its web site.
"We simply can't wait to be back touring to see our fans," Niall Horan said on their website on behalf of fellow band members Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. "It's going to be absolutely huge!"
The tour now totalling 69 dates, is being predicted to score new records as high ticket demands are overwhelming. One Direction Tour 2014 is ahead of both Katy Perry tickets and Eminem tickets in selling out arenas this year, according to Forbes.
Ticket sales aren't the only place One Direction is excelling. Data from the BPI confirmed that though released last week of November, the boy band's third LP "Midnight Memories," was awarded as the best-selling album of 2013. Eminem's highly anticipated 'Marshall Mathers 2 LP,' released November 5, only finished second behind the album that sold 4 million copies in just five weeks.
Forbes explained that the One Direction "carries the momentum from record sales into the upcoming dates on the world tour, which is likely to continue setting records."
"When the tour was first announced, projections suggested the 'Where We Are Tour' could be a top ten grossing tour of all time. With the added dates in Toronto, East Rutherford, Foxboro, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, Pasadena and Charlotte, 'Where We Are' projects to continue climbing that list, with a projected gross of $334 million. At an $88 average face price and an average of 55,000 in attendance for each show, the 'Where We Are' Tour could move between The Police's 'Reunion' Tour and Rolling Stones' 'Voodoo Lounge' as the eighth highest-grossing tour of all time."
