Big Bang Theory has a Star Wars episode in the works. The show has teamed up with Lucasfilm to create something special for Star Wars Day.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the CBS geek show was approached by Lucasfilm to collaborate on an episode. "We were approached by the Lucasfilm people to do something to celebrate Star Wars day, which was nice," said co-creator Chuck Lorre.

The Big Bang Theory production team and Lucasfilm's Industrial Light & Magic worked together to re-create Dagobah, the swampy world where Star Wars' beloved Jedi master, Yoda, lived in exile. Lucasfilm also outfitted the show with props, and their experts even visited the set to check on the production. The cast will be wearing Star Wars outfits as well, and the episode will actually have some Star Wars special effects. One actually involves a light saber.

The result is an episode called "The Proton Transmogrification" that will come out on May 1, in time for Star Wars day. In it, the geeky group will be celebrating the holiday together. Sheldon (played by Jim Parsons), will have visions of his childhood mentor, Professor Proton (played by Bob Newhart), just like a Jedi master and an apprentice. Newhart will also appear as one of the Star Wars characters, but that's a secret for the show's viewers to discover.

Showrunner Steve Molaro offered up some more details. "This was from all of us. They're excited about everything we're doing, and they're going to help us with the special effects. Bob is going to be swinging a light saber around and they sent us a real one to use. They're going to help make it look and sound right. It's an amazing crossover for us," he said.

Star Wars Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated by fans of the franchise. It happens every year on May 4, as it is the date closest to the Star Wars phrase, "May the Force be with you." On Star Wars day, fans change it to "May the fourth be with you."
