The script was written by Andrew Nemec. The ninja turtles movie is slated for a August 8 release. The movie is currently in reshoots.

Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O'Neil (Fox) and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick (Arnett) to save the city and unravel Shredder's diabolical plan.

Screenwriter Andrew Nemec said in an interview with movie website Comingsoon.net, his driving force for the script was to show that ultimately the story was about brothers. Nemec said, "You know, the canon of the turtles, in all their iterations, always seems to harken back to a being a story about family, a story of friendship and a story about brothers. I think that, ultimately, when you look at all the different stories, whether it's the Laird comic or the cartoon now or the cartoon from the late '80s, or the movies where they're in the suits, it really always boils back down to being a story about brothers. That really was the most driving principle for us, making sure that that element was always a central component of the movie."

Just seven weeks after giving birth to her son, Bodhi, Megan Fox was back at work on the set of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," with co-star Will Arnett in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 1. The 27-year-old actress wore tight jeans, a T-shirt and a zip-up hoodie to get into the role of April. Bodhi is her and husband Brian Austin Green's second child. Co-star Arnett said about Fox to IGN, "She's a kick-ass April. Megan did such a great job. There are some great sequences that she has and that we both have together that are really high octane where we're fighting all sorts of bad dudes."
