Michael Jackson's new album 'Xscape' featuring eight songs by the pop legend is set for release on May 13, 2014. Reviving back the popsensation's magical touch to music, Epic Records has teamed up with a host of producers to "contemporize" Michael's songs so fans can have access to four decades of the "King of Pop's" music.
The late pop icon's estate further offers a musical treat to all its fans in L.A, by offering unlimited access to four-decades of the "Black and White" singer's material. Xscape is exclusively produced by Chairman and CEO of Epic Record, L. A. Reid.
Through mining of Jackson's estate archives, Reid has teamed up with the top producers to include global hit makers Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and John McClain.
Both standard and deluxe editions of Michael Jackson's new album 'Xscape' are available for preorder on iTunes and will further be available at all retailers across on May 13.
A deluxe edition of Michael Jackson's new album 'Xscape' will include a selection of recordings in their original form. The title of this new album draws inspiration from Michael's style of naming his albums based on choice of a song and to use only one word titles to lend an edgy quality to each.
"Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world," said L A Reid to Digital Spy.
"Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with."
"We are extremely proud and honoured to present this music to the world."
According to the press release, Reid believed Timbaland had the gravitas, depth and range to creatively engage with works of the "Thriller" hit maker. The "Xscape" project was written and produced by Jackson and Jerkins.
John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson said, "Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision."
In line with the release of Michael Jackson's new album 'Xscape,' Sony plans to launch an unprecedented global campaign with one of its sister companies, drawing on the strength of its brand and consumer reach.
