"Breaking Bad" is often hailed as one of the best television shows of all time, and for rabid fans, there is good news on the horizon. Actor Bryan Cranston is set to write a memoir about his years as the character "Walter White" on the set of "Breaking Bad," as announced in a statement by his publisher Scribner yesterday April 3. Cranston wrapped up his character last year after five seasons on the air. In his statement about the book, the 58-year-old actor said that he will "tell the stories of my life and reveal the secrets and lies that I lived with for six years shooting Breaking Bad." He also states, "Walter White taught me a lot -- some of it useful, some of it dangerous."
"Breaking Bad" ran for five years on AMC (although the show itself only follows 2 years of Walter White's life) and was created by Vince Gilligan. The story followed an Albuquerque, N.M. chemistry teacher Walter White as he quickly went from a docile middle-aged husband to a meth empire lord after hearing a diagnosis of inoperable cancer. The series wrapped to a lot of hype on Sept. 29, 2013. For his role as Walter White, Cranston won Emmys for outstanding lead actor in a drama series in the years 2008, 2009 and 2010. Additionally, he won four Emmys as a producer of the show. Overall, the show, with a cult-like following, has won ten Primetime Emmy Awards: the three consecutive wins for Outstanding Lead Actor for Cranston (2008-2010), two wins for Outstanding Supporting Actor for Aaron Paul (2010, 2012), an Outstanding Supporting Actress win for Anna Gunn (2013), and, after three previous nominations, the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series for the first half of the fifth season in 2013.
Prior to his run on "Breaking Bad," Cranston won a Screen Actors Guild award for his role in Argo and is also known for starring in the "Malcolm in the Middle." Cranston is currently starring on Broadway as President Lyndon B. Johnson in the play "All the Way."
Nan Graham, the publisher of Scribner, said that Cranston "writes the way he acts - with fierce commitment, intelligence and humor." The book will be released in fall 2015 via the publisher Scribner, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.
