The James Franco gay rumors have been brewing since he started portraying gay roles. One gay role would have been fine, but he seems to enjoy doing many of those. The actor is aware of these rumors and has opened up to Attitude magazine how he felt. He said, "One of the things that's very much part of my public image is the question of my sexuality."
The Spring Breakers star also said, "It's not something that bothers me in the slightest. It hasn't gone away and I get asked about it from all sides. It's partly my doing and partly not my doing." James Franco talked about why many people decided to remain in the closet. He said, "I think that the people I have known who are performers who haven't publicly come out didn't because they're afraid it'll hurt their careers. He added, "And they're afraid they won't be able to play straight roles anymore."
The 35-year old actor also said, "If there's somebody that was well respected and very secure with their career, I could see it happening in a very positive way." The James Franco gay rumors have started even back in high school and the actor wasn't afraid of the speculations and doesn't care about it. That's how confident he is about his sexuality.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, James talked about the gay rumors and explained why he likes doing gay roles. He said, "It's funny because the way that kind of stuff is talked about on blogs is so black-and-white." He continued, "It's all cut-and-dry identity politics. 'Is he straight or is he gay?' or, 'This is your third gay movie - come out already!' And all based on, gay or straight, based on the idea that your object of affection decides your sexuality."
James explained, "Part of what I'm interested in is how these people who were living anti-normative lifestyles contended with opposition." He added, "Or, you know what, maybe I'm just gay."
The controversial actor is currently preparing for his new film; and guess what his role is. James will play the role of ex-gay activist Michael Glatze. The actor will being shooting the Gus Van Sant film this summer.
I wonder when will the James Franco gay rumors end because not only is the actor getting tired of it, but his fans as well.
