Samsung Galaxy s5 price has been outed by various carriers taking pre-orders ahead of the April 11 launch. The S5 was announced on the first day of the MWC 2014 in Barcelona, when the 'Unhacked' gala event 'wowed' audiences.
U.S. carrier, Verizon, was ready for taking Galaxy s5 pre-orders on Friday from its website. A number of other carriers AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile are already in the process of taking reservations for the S5 since March.
An impending launch in April, with an announcement in late Feb. sounds about right for a release to get started. However, reports said that the new HTC One M8 had begun selling its flagship phone on March 26, the day that it was unveiled. With Apple's iPhone in the Big 3 category, analysts say that both the release of the iPhone 6 along with the iWatch need to be synched with the HTC and Samsung releases in order for Apple to make up for the Android market share that has been leaning toward Androids for some time.
Looking at the price, Verizon's Galaxy S5 costs $250 with a two-year contract, and the company will offer a $50 mail-in rebate along with overnight shipping free of charge. This in essence makes the price approximately $199, as confirmed by androidcentral.
Pre-orders will be met by the carrier on the day of the launch.
Another option you have is to get the 'no-nonsense' Galaxy S5 off-contact by paying in total - a hefty albeit worth it $600.
Yet another way to get around the contract system is to avail Verizon's "Buy One, Get One Free" offer. This translates to a purchase of the Galaxy S5 with a takeaway of either another Galaxy S5, the Samsung Ativ SE running on Windows Phone or the newly released HTC One M8 free.
According to PC Magazine, "The Galaxy S5, which made its debut at Mobile World Congress in February, sports a 5.1-inch full HD Super AMOLED display and a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera. It runs a 2.5GHz quad-core processor and Android 4.4 KitKat, and has a built-in fingerprint sensor that unlocks the device."
PCMag further shared, "The smartphone also incorporates some fitness components, like a built-in heart rate sensor and an upgraded S Health app that lets you track nutrition, fitness, and wellness. It will pair with Samsung's new Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, Gear Fit smart watches."
