Peaches Geldof, the British journalist, television presenter and model, has died at the age of 25. Geldof was the second daughter of musician Bob Geldof and the late Paula Yates. She leaves behind musician husband Thomas Cohen and two young sons, Astala and Phaedra. Cohen said in a statement to the BBC, ""My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons. I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts everyday. We shall love her forever."
Her father said in a statement confirming her death, "We are beyond pain. She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us." The Kent Police Department, who were called to an address in Kent around lunchtime today, said in a statement, "Police were called at 13:35 BST on 7 April, 2014 to an address near Wrotham following a report of concern for the welfare of a woman. A woman aged 25 was pronounced dead by South East Coast Ambulance Service. Officers are working to establish the circumstances around the death." They added, "At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained and sudden."
Geldof was 11 years old when her own mother, Paula Yates, died at age 41 from an accidental drug overdose in September 2000. In a 2013 interview to Elle magazine, Geldof said she did not come to terms with her mother's death for several years. She said, "I remember the day my mother died, and it's still hard to talk about it. I just blocked it out. I went to school the next day because my father's mentality was 'keep calm and carry on.' I didn't start grieving for my mother properly until I was maybe 16."
Peaches Geldof's final message to the world was a tribute to her mom Paula Yates. Just hours before her untimely death on Monday, Geldof posted a photo of herself and her late mother on her Instagram pages of herself and her mom with the caption "Me and my mum."
