Although the news of So E Hyun's upcoming wedding followed the news of her dating In Kyo Jin by a matter of days, the actress says the reason for the rush is not what you might imagine.
It's really just a matter of no longer being able to deny her fate.
Not only have the "Three Days" actress and In Kyo Jin been cast as a couple in two dramas. They knew each other for years before they even acted together. And Im Kyo Jin wanted to marry her before they even came of age.
When the actress first announced her wedding date in October, some wondered if the couple might be expecting, as has been the case in several recent celebrity weddings. But it's a more interesting story than that.
The two actors were friends when they were in school together.
On the MBC entertainment show "Section TV," the actress reported that they first met when they both wore school uniforms.
"He used to pick me up in his car at school," she said. "We went to the same cram school."
In Kyo Jin was sure of his feelings even then.
"Honestly, I liked her when I was young," he said. "We went to a baseball game together."
He liked her so much he wanted to marry her. He told her that when they came of age, if they still felt the same way, he wanted her to marry him. But she was not convinced.
But there is apparently no escaping fate.
Fate brought them together again when they joined the same agency 12 years ago. And fate cast them as a couple in two dramas, "Aeja's Older Sister, Minja" and "Happy Ending."
It took a few more years but So E Hyun was finally convinced that there was no escaping destiny.
In Kyo Jin proposed to her a month ago, before the couple went public with their relationship. He proposed in a restaurant and while it was not the engagement she expected, she still gave it a high score.
But she did not say yes right away. It took a few days to decide.
"She didn't call me for three days, but then she sent a message saying we should meet," said In Kyo Jin, who appeared in "Gu Am Heo Joon," "Horse Doctor," and "I Need Romance 2012." "I think her faith in me had grown."
The couple plans to marry on Oct. 4 in Seoul.
