The new Lupin the Third film titled, Lupin the IIIrd: Daisuke Jigen's Gravestone (Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen Daisuke no Bohyo in Japan) has release some new goodies including a new poster, a teaser trailer of the film and an official release date. But the shocker of them all is this; will Daisuke Jigen die in this Lupin the third movie? We're about to find out so here's the scoop!
Lupin the IIIrd: Daisuke Jigen's Gravestone is a "continuation spin-off" of 2012 Lupin anime film, Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine and it is directed by Redline's own Takeshi Koike.
It stars Lupin and Jigen, as they infiltrate East Doroa to capture the secret treasure Little Comet. Queen Malta, a singer from East Doroa, was just assassinated in neighboring West Doroa, resulting in a tense situation at the border. The duo successfully steal the Little Comet, but a sniper tries to take out Jigen during their getaway. Jigen faces a powerful foe named Yael Okuzaki, an assassin who prepares graves for his targets before executing his kills. It is said that no one has survived after Yael Okuzaki makes a grave for that target.
Here is the teaser video of the anime below.
Although it may have been the film's first teaser, it showed a lot of things to come as the tagline says "So Long, Jigen," there is a possibility that the gun-slinging partner and friend of Lupin, Daisuke Jigen dies in the anime film at the hands of Yael Okuzuki. As shown in the ending of the teaser Jigen was shot at the back and possible dies in Lupin's arms.
Lupin the IIIrd: Daisuke Jigen's Gravestone is 51-minute film, splitting into two parts and is scheduled to be shown in the Shinjuku Wald 9 theatre in Tokyo for a limited time of one week from June 21-27 and then they will have a home release in the summer.
