Hundreds of volunteers and emergency workers in South Korea have been trying to comfort the shocked relatives of the missing passengers as the lack of progress continues.
Parents of the missing students reportedly demanded a road be cleared for those who might be rescued. Police were sent in to meet the requests.
To add to the tragedy, police have reported that a high school vice principal who had been rescued from the sinking ferry was found hanging from a tree.
The vice principal, who has only been identified by his surname, Kang, committed suicide on the island of Jindo where rescued passengers have taken shelter.
News that there had been a delay in the evacuation of the slowly sinking ferry has angered relatives as the blame is being placed on the captain of the Sewol ferry.
There has also been a news update that the captain, Lee Joo-seok, may have been one of the first to jump off the vessel, despite the delayed evacuation of the crew and passengers.
The 69-year-old is currently being questioned by the coastguard and is the subject of criminal investigation.
Prosecutors in South Korea have said that they've asked a court to issue an arrest warrant for the captain.
Arrest warrants have been requested for two other crew members as well.
