The Giants (11-8) have seen nine of their last 10 games decided by one run, three of which came as they took two of three against the Rockies in San Francisco from April 11-13.
San Francisco and Colorado have played seven consecutive one-run contests, with the Giants holding a 4-3 advantage and 30-29 scoring edge.
"Unbelievable, man," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said to the team's website after Sunday's 4-3 win in San Diego. "I've been on a few runs where you play tight games, but never like this. A few more gray hairs, but it goes with the territory. It's who we are."
Limited offense is a big reason why that's been the case. San Francisco had just three hits in the series finale against the Padres and is batting .164 with nine runs in its last five games.
All-Star catcher Buster Posey has been the coldest of the bunch, going 2 for 26 over his last eight games, though he did connect on a two-run homer to give the Giants a first-inning lead Sunday.
"I think my timing's been off a little bit," Posey told the team's official website. "I think I was on time much better today."
The Rockies (10-10) had a one-run game of their own Sunday as they fell 10-9 to Philadelphia and failed in their bid for a three-game sweep.
Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki remained hot with a 3-for-3 day while first baseman Justin Morneau went 2 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs. Tulowitzki went 7 for 9 in the series to boost his season average to .393, and Morneau is batting .421 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in his last five games.
"Mo's pretty locked in right now," manager Walt Weiss told the team's official website.
The hot-hitting Rockies will face Ryan Vogelsong, who has improved in each of his three starts. In Wednesday's 2-1 victory over the Dodgers, he allowed a run on four hits in six innings.
"I think, more than anything, he stayed consistent with his delivery from the first inning," Bochy said.
