Suikoden II is arguably the most popular and one of the best RPG of all time; fans remember being blown away by the intriguing story and awesome gameplay during the PS1 days. Unfortunately the game received a very limited print release making it one of the most difficult games to find.
Good news for fans of the Suikoden series, as according to a recent rating by the ESRB board Konami might be planning on giving Suikoden II its long awaited and well deserved PSN release. The game has been rated Teen, like its original release and will most likely be released as a PS1 Classic allowing players to play it on both the PS Vita and PS3.
Suikoden II is touted by many to be one of the best JRPGs of all time. The game features a huge cast with over 100 playable characters. Critics also praised the game for its deep tactical combat in addition to the standard turn based combat that was norm at the time.
For those who are new to this title, Suikoden II is a role-playing video game with strategic elements covering those gameplay options pertaining to large scale confrontations, such as between two armies. The player controls a quiet protagonist and travels with him around the world map, advancing the plot by completing tasks and talking with other characters. The player can also recruit new characters to his cause, often involving a short sidequest to do so. In towns, the player can gather information, sharpen characters' weaponry, and buy equipment; wilderness areas generally feature random encounters with monsters.
Fans will really get excited for a Suikoden II release on the PSN. RPG fans have also listed some JRPGs series such as Chrono Series, Earthbound, Shin Megami Tensei, Dark Cloud, Rogue Galaxy, and Shadow Hearts that they want to make a comeback with the release of the new consoles.
