Indeed, best things come to those who wait. Winning an Oscar award was just the start of better things to come for Lupita Nyong'o, who is starting to take Hollywood by storm. She has just been hailed as the World's Most Beautiful Woman for 2014 by People magazine.
Earlier this year, Lupita bagged the much-coveted Academy Award for best supporting actress for her performance as a slave in the film, 12 Years A Slave. The highly-acclaimed film by Director Steve McQueen has also bagged most of the awards from different award-giving bodies.
Nevertheless, the actress admitted that the recognition from People magazine caught her by surprise. She acknowledged that it was something she "never dreamed of". The 31-year-old actress also said, "It is exciting and just a major, major compliment. I was happy for all the girls who would see me on it and feel a little more seen."
Born in Mexico and raised in Kenya, Lupita also believed in the typical stereotype of beauty. Like other girls, she also thought that light skin and long straight hair are requisites to being described as beautiful. However, her mother kept on complimenting her for her beauty.
