Sherlock Holmes Season 4 news: Holmes may be adding another excellent actor to its eccentric cast of characters with Thor actor Tom Hiddleston being rumored to be stepping in as the third Holmes brother. Hiddleston, who is now recognized as the sinister face of Loki in the "Thor" and "The Avengers" franchise, would be a perfect fit as he is as charismatic as the TV's sexiest detective Benedict Cumberbatch on season 4. Executive producer and writer Mark Gatiss, who plays Mycroft Holmes in the series, did mention something about another sibling in the "His Last Vow" episode, sending the internet buzzing about the new twist.

Enstarz reported that Gatiss addressed the rumors in a recent Q&A in Brazil about the possibility of casting Hiddleston: "Tom would be wonderful in Sherlock Holmes," Gatiss said. "But he only does movies now. What can I say? . . . Well it's an internet rumor so it must be true. We might as well just wait and see what happens. Gatiss then teased Sherlock Holmes by ending with: "I'll ask him if you like." The anticipation for Sherlock Holmes Season 4 has been in all-time high since the end of season 3 last January, but now our hopes might not be in vain after all.

"The Hobbit" actor Martin Freeman went viral after his appearance on the Alan Carr-hosted Chatty Man when he teased loyal Sherlock Fans that the series' producers are toying with the idea for a one-off special to premiere sometime before the beginning of season 4, eonline.com reports. "Mark Gatiss may beat me up, but there is an idea for this one-off special that's such a good idea, and as I was listening to it I thought, 'We've just got to do this,'" Freeman told Carr. "And I don't know when we are going to be able to do it, unfortunately." The critically-acclaimed series' third season of Holmes definitely ended on a cliffhanger, But Gatiss and co-creator Steven Moffat have expressed difficulty in keeping the wheels are moving for season four.

"It's very hard to get together," the producers confirmed. "But it's one of those things where you have to at some point just go, 'We're going to do it now' - otherwise we could be having this conversation in three years."
