Despite the rise of vicious pit bull attacks, dog whisperer Cesar Millan thinks demolishing the breed is not the answer.
In fact, he coined the extinction of the pit bull dog breed as "genocide."
“Our ignorance level is growing way too out of proportion, to the point that we believe that getting rid of a breed is a solution,” said Milan, according to Ecorazzi . “Genocide. It’s a genocide."
Millan believes that if a person claims to be a true dog lover then they shouldn't exclude any breed.
“We say we love dogs. We can’t just say we love certain kinds of dogs. Otherwise, let’s just say we love some dogs. Let’s not say we are a nation of dog lovers,” said Millan.
The dog whisperer pointed out that pit bulls aren't natural aggressive. Instead, that behavior is learned if dogs are not surrounded by love. In addition, Millan stressed that other dogs can act out too.
“[It] is not just pit bulls who behave aggressive. It’s Chihuahuas who behave aggressive. It’s Dalmatians who behave aggressive," said Millan. "So what I’m saying is aggression is a state of mind not a breed.”
He also suggested that if pit bull breeding stopped, breeders who train dogs to be aggressive and fight would just move on to another breed.
“We take responsibility. We no longer blame the elephant and the shark and the tiger, and in this case, the dog. We humans have to take responsibility for how we influence instability, how we create instability,” said Millan. “The most dangerous thing on the planet is an ignorant humankind,” said Millan.
