After George Clooney's engagement to humanitarian lawyer Amal Alamuddin was announced, the actor's mother, Nina Warren, revealed that she wasn't shocked at all.

Warren and her husband Nick met Alamuddin a year ago and felt like the beautiful and educated woman was a perfect match for Clooney.

"We weren't at all surprised when they told us they were engaged, and we couldn't be happier for them," Warren said. "On an intellectual level, they are equals. That is very important to him. Amal's world couldn't be more different from the Hollywood lifestyle."

Due to Alamuddin hefty resume and obvious intellect, Warren believes she is on a different level than her son's past girlfriends like Stacy Keibler, Lisa Snowdon, and Renée Zellweger.

According to BANG Showbiz , when asked if Alamuddin was anything like the other woman Clooney has dated, Warren said, "Heavens, no! She's a lawyer, she is brilliant, she is a very bright woman and at the very top of her career."

Meanwhile, the couple first sparked rumors they had got engaged when the brunette beauty was spotted showing off a diamond sparkler on her ring finger as they indulged in sushi at Nobu in Malibu last Thursday (24 April).

The pair were first linked after a dinner date in October and their romance has been getting increasingly more serious in recent months.
