Amazon smartphone rumors are pointing to the possibility of an in house design for a handheld mobile device.

What could be a 'first look' at an Amazon smartphone rumored rendering first turned up on Boy Genius Report. The image reveals front and back images along with the Amazon logo.

CNet reports, "Amazon graphic designers (created the illustrations) for internal use, the image reveals the front of the phone with large tiles gracing the screen along with three buttons on the side. The back of the phone sports the Amazon logo and shows two speaker grilles at the bottom."

This sounds like something that CEO Jeff Bezos would approve off. Although Bezos is the one of the best liked CEOs in technology, he still needs to drive the company to profitability and its entry into the mature smartphone market might make it possible.

Other reports have also confirmed the legitimacy of the rumor, including BGR and all arrows lead to Amazon joining the smartphone bandwagon, as Apple and other big players hit saturation points particularly in the U.S. market.

One of the strategies that Apple followed after a lackluster campaign of marketing the iPhone 5C, released last September for China, was to unveil an inexpensive Nokia 8GB phone after Nokia released an Android format at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress 2014.

Following several exclusive reports, BGR finally confirmed the story with the headline, 'Unmasked: The world's first clear look at Amazon's smartphone.'

The final reports said, "BGR gave the world its first look at the unannounced handset in mid-April, and we followed up with exclusive details surrounding the phone's unique 3D interface and gesture-based controls. Then, we revealed that "Prime Data" will be one of the device's key weapons in the crowded U.S. smartphone market."

This is Amazon's first time ever smartphone, as detailed by BGR, receiving exclusive rights for publishing the drawings.

The phones biggest 'point of differentiation' is its 3D interface. According to sources close to the story, the Amazon phone will carry a 4.7" display screen, similar to that of the rumored Apple iPhone 6. However, the screens are a tad bit smaller than those of the recently launched HTC One M8 and the Samsung Galaxy S5, both serious contenders to rival the iPhone 6.

Other specs include 720p display, Snapdragon processor coupled with 2GB RAM, and Amazon's Android-based Fire OS.
