The "Fifty Shades of Grey" film has yet to come out yet but sex toy manufacturer, Love Honey, reported of a jump in sales of the bed aiders, which also received the stamp of approval by author E.L. James.
"Fifty Shades of Grey," the 2012 book that made E.L. James a millionaire, has inspired a film adaptation starring James Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. The erotic novel deals with the themes bondage and submission, sadism/sadomasochism and sexual perversion and has already sold 100 million copies all around the world.
Love Honey has cited the influence of "Fifty Shades of Grey" on the extra attention that the male sex toys is receiving, which now boasts of an annual worth of $10 million and projected to be the "fastest growing sector" of the industry in 2014, according to the report by MailOnline.
Tracey Cox, sex and relationship expert, told MailOnline that sales of sex toys for men have been growing steadily in the last decade.
"We think lots of men will try out these new toys in the hope of improving their performance in bed," she said. "And lots of women will buy the products for their partners for the same reason!"
The Honey Love male sex toys received the official endorsement from E.L. James, per the fan site 50shadesgray.com:
"This range is what I always imagined while I was writing 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' I'm so excited that the toys I described in the books have come to life and can now be enjoyed around the world," E.L. James stated.
The "Fifty Shades of Grey" hype has grown so big that the attention it generated is already making the male lead uncomfortable.
James Dornan, who turned 32 on May 1, has earlier complained that the attention he's getting because of "Fifty Shades of Grey" has already reached the point of being "ridiculous."
