As actress Jun Ji Hyun gave a hundred thousand dollars to help out the sinking of the ferry Sewol incident under her actual name Wang Ji Hyun, the story behind why she changed her last name when she debuted as an actress is being highlighted again. Jun Ji Hyun's real name is Wang Ji Hyun. When Jun Ji Hyun starred in the drama "Steal My Heart" in 1998, the producer Oh Jong Rok, upon casting Jun Ji Hyun, suggested her to use a pseudonym because he thought the name Wang Ji Hyun did not roll in the tongue like other actresses' names. Later on, Jun Ji Hyun changed her last name from Wang to Jun, and worked as Jun Ji Hyun. In related news, the Korean Red Cross on April 29, 2014, said, "A person named Wang Ji Hyun gave a hundred thousand dollars for the ferry Sewol incident." Previously, actress Jun Ji Hyun canceled her event in Myung Dong on April 17, 2014, to show her condolences for the ferry incident.
