L.A. Lakers rumors are swirling around the possibility of Pau Gasol returning with Mike D'Antoni's resignation. However, the Lakers' woes won't leave town along with the creator of "seven seconds or less" offense.
The Lakers Nation blog tackled a few L.A. Lakers rumors concerning not just the all-star center but also Kobe Bryant not wanting to play for him and the circumstances surrounding the Mike D'Antoni resignation.
According to the blog site, Mike D'Antoni reportedly told his friend: "I know that Kobe and Pau don't want to play for me."
Pau Gasol's quarrel with the former L.A. Lakers coach is well documented as the Spaniard has never been totally comfortable with the small ball offense of Mike D'Antoni. As he told the ESPN back in February:
"If we want to continue to play small, we have to play to that advantage and utilize more quickness but if we get outrebounded by 20 rebounds, I don't care who you are and what you do, it's not going to work. You're not going to win."
The 33-year-old center also said that he'd love to come back to the Lakers but that will hinge upon Mike D'Antoni's resignation.
The Lakers have just nine playoff wins since their 2010 title and their anticipated franchise player of the future walked from the franchise last July.
The RealGM blog, meanwhile, said regardless of the L.A. Lakers rumors of coaching replacements following the Mike D'Antoni's resignation, their problems extend beyond just artificial solutions.
Aside from Jeff Van Gundy, who is not keen on taking the position, the big-name coaches that are being floated around are Tom Thibodeau, Ettore Messina, George Karl and Lionel Hollins.
"The Lakers' trouble isn't finding a coach, but committing to a direction," the blog stated. "The issues facing Mitch Kupchak and the Buss Family didn't begin with D'Antoni, and they certainly won't end because he's gone."
