Floyd Mayweather has opened to the idea of working with Richard Schaefer amidst the quiet rift between the Golden Boy Promotions CEO and its founder Oscar De La Hoya.

While Richard Schaefer has admitted that he has issues with Oscar De La Hoya, he claimed that he was already trying to straighten them out.

"I think Oscar and me, whether you say 'make' or 'made' a great team, have had great success but sometimes you have issues," Schaefer said in an interview ESPN.com.

"We had issues a few years ago. We worked them out. Sometimes you work them out, sometimes you don't. Right now, I'm here. I'm representing Golden Boy in what is going to be another terrific event."

It was reported that the main reason for the clash between Schaefer and De La Hoya was the possibility of reconciliation and partnership between Golden Boy and Bob Arum's Top Rank Promotions, in which Schaefer wanted no part of.

That being said, Floyd Mayweather is coming to Richard Schaefer's aid, whom he considers as family. The two personalities have worked with Golden Boy Promotions.

Floyd Mayweather also lauded Richard Schaefer's work ethic and dedication for the sport of boxing.

"We like working with Richard Schaefer. Richard Schaefer is Golden Boy," Floyd Mayweather told ESPN.com. "He does all the day-to-day leg work. He works hard. He's up late on the phone with [Mayweather Promotions CEO] Leonard [Ellerbe], three, four in the morning, taking flights, and people that's putting work in like this you got to commend them.

Floyd Mayweather even said that Richard Schaefer has a home with him and that the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions may work with him should he have problems with Oscar De La Hoya's company.

"We would love to work with Richard. He's a great guy, a great father. Richard knows the door is always open. Richard Schaefer knows he's family," Mayweather added.
