The Boy Meets World spin-off, Girl Meets World, which will appear on the Disney Channel finally has a premiere date! A Disney Channel representative confirmed to BuzzFeed that the new television series will make premiere on the Disney Channel on Friday, June 27, at 9:45 p.m. after the new Disney Channel original movie Zapped! It will also follow a four-hour marathon of "Boy Meets World" on June 15 according to CNN. After a week-long break, Girl Meets World will then settle into its normal time slot on July 11 on Fridays at 8:30 p.m.
The very popular show Boy Meets World played on ABC from 1993 and 2000, and starred Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel as friends Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, who later become love interests and eventually married.
The highly anticipated Girl Meets World will start ten years after where Boy Meets World ended. It continues to have some of the original cast members, including Ben Savage, Danielle Fishel, and Rider Strong. The show will feature Cory (Savage) and Topanga (Fishel), who are now married, and their two children Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and Auggie (August Maturo) are living in New York City. The plot will follow Riley and her best friend, Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), as they navigate the challenges of life as they begin the seventh grade. Cory’s parents from the original show, Amy (Betsy Randle) and Alan (William Russ), as well as Cory’s best friend Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong) were on the set filming a dinner scene at the younger Matthews’ New York City-set apartment in a photo that Savage posted on his instagram. Looks we can look forward to a full cast Boy Meets World reunion!
The hilarious trailer for Girl Meets World opens with Riley telling Maya, “This teacher’s insane. A total nut job! I think there’s something seriously wrong with him.” Guess who’s class it is? “Hi, honey,” says Cory. “You’re late to your father’s class!” Oh boy, it’s Cory! Cory is Riley’s teacher.
